I love reading, always have. Got a couple new books for Christmas, one of which I read last night entitled “Going Overboard the misadventures of a military wife”, written by Sarah Smiley, the wife of a Navy flight instructor, the mother of two young boys and one of the nation’s leading advocates for military families.
Being a former military brat myself, I can relate to some of this book. My Dad was gone (pilot, Canadian Armed Forces) quite a bit.
Sarah gets left behind by Dustin, who is deployed for six months to raise two kids, look after a house, car & her life. She goes from her Dad (retired Admiral) to Dustin & has never been on her own, and has to grow up fast. Excellent book, I couldn’t put it down!
It sounds interesting. I am just about to read The Help. I am looking forward to it.
